SEWPONY STRETCH

October 01, 2018

I am back with some 'sewpony stretch' inspiration.  The new sewalong theme for October is...you guessed it...sewing with stretch fabrics.  I loooooove sewing with stretch fabrics.  Comfort, ease of wear and quick to make.  Today I am sharing some garments made by three members of the sewpony team - Audrey, Deborah and Jenya are  showcasing sewpony patterns in stretch fabrics.  I am also excited to announce a great prize for the October sew along...more on that at the end of this post.

Audrey from the blog audrey's lagniappes is one of my lovely sewpony team.  She is super thoughtful and helpful and has helped me translate three of my patterns into french (Finch in french will be published this week).  She has a gorgeous daughter, Castille (above), who today is wearing a gorgeous Issie dress.  Doesn't she look sweet in it? See more here.

Deborah from Cas & Nina has been a great sewpony supporter for many years - as a customer and a tester and now as part of my team.  She sews for her two kids and has made the sweetest Issie top for her daughter.  I love it!  Deborah is sharing more photos of this beauty over on her blog here.

Jenya from While she was sleeping is also a big sewpony supporter.  She has sewn up all of my patterns and her sewing is always spot on.  During testing of the Finch dress pattern, Jenya tried sewing it up in some stretch fabric.  The result was great and here she is again today sharing another stretch Finch dress!  The pattern works perfectly in stretch and the only change you need to make is to cut the original bias binding as you would a stretch neckband (not on the bias).  Since Jenya and I both often shop at Spotlight, we sometimes have the same fabrics in our stash.  That is the case for this pretty floral! I hope to sew up something in this fabric this month too!  See more of Jenya's dress here.

Now, firstly, the winner for the September sew along (sewpony stripes) is Ari for her pretty striped Miss Polly dress.   This month, you could win a sewpony pattern and a $40 AUD gift voucher to the beautiful webshop, Maai design.  Maaike stocks an amazing selection of European fabrics and ships worldwide.  Brands like See you at six, About Blue fabrics, Atelier Brunette and much more.  She also stocks haberdashery like beautiful piping and ribbing to co-ordinate with your sewing project.  Simply upload a photo of your creation for the theme #sewponystretch and tag it by October 31st.  Audrey, Deborah and Jenya will choose their favourite creation who will win the prize.  (Eligible to paying customers only.  Open worldwide).    Good luck!
